Sports & Recreation

North Queens may be rural, but it’s got many of the sports and recreation opportunities you’d find in a big city.

North Queens Aquatic Centre

Offers open swim as well as swimming lessons right in the heart of the community.

Harmony Park and Ball Field

Local park with an active softball team. Join the team or attend games to cheer them on. Harmony Park is also home to a geocache if you can find it!

North Queens Active Living

Featuring a variety of events each week, there are sports opportunities for everyone! This summer a new multi use sports field will open, including a soccer pitch and track facility.

South Shore Regional Airport

Local airport for small/personal aircraft operated by the South Shore Flying Club. This location also holds 3-day Drag Racing events, one per month, May – September, weather permitting

ATV and Snowmobile Trails

If you enjoy hitting the trails on an all terrain vehicle or a snowmobile, this is the place for you. North Queens is interconnected to the rest of the province with a multi-use trail system. You can find an interactive map of the provincial trail system here, but there are far more available than are listed here. Queen’s County ATV Association can provide more information about Nova Scotia’s massive trail system. In your backyard are what the locals call the Mersey Woods, with trails that take you to hidden gems such as old lumber camps, a mosquito plane crash site, an old wench boat nearly forgotten in the woods, and more. Pack your camping gear, there are lots of remote campsites free to use throughout the trail system.

Relocating doesn’t mean you need to leave your hobbies behind, we can’t wait to include you!
