Family Friendly Programs

Rural Nova Scotia is the perfect place to raise a family, here are a few of our resources and programs for families.

North Queens Community School

North Queens Community School serves primary, secondary, and high school students with bus service.

Childcare

The YMCA offers after school childcare out of the North Queens Community School.

Junior Guides School

A week at camp, each day packed with a balance of learning and fun. Past years have included:

  • Skill sessions such as canoeing, archery, rifle safety, map and compass, survival, and trapping.
  • Outdoor living lessons like bannock making, knot tying, fishing, and blood trail tracking.
  • Recreation and tradition with swimming, campfires, fun evening events, and the closing-day pie auction.

Campers gain confidence, independence, and lasting memories while enjoying time in the outdoors under the guidance of experienced instructors.

The Junior Guides School also has a Facebook page where you can find additional camp information, photos, and learn how to volunteer.

4 Leaf Clover 4-H Club

4-H is a positive youth development organization that promotes leadership, encourages the care and responsibility of our resources, and builds positive life skills to secure a sustainable future for Nova Scotia.

Hollow Log Cafe

Our little community is the kind of place where everyone knows your name, and a wave or a smile is never far away. Life moves gently here, marked not by traffic lights or rush hours, but by the changing seasons, the sounds of loons on the lake, and the familiar gatherings that bring us together year after year.
